Robbery of Fast-Food Restaurant & False Imprisonment of Employees

Murrieta

The Challenge

A restaurant patron and a manager conspired to stage a robbery at a fast-food establishment, resulting in the theft of several thousand dollars. Because other employees were unaware the event was staged, the client was arrested and charged with felony robbery and false imprisonment. Given the nature of these charges the client faced a substantial state prison sentence.

Our Strategy

We focused our defense on the unique circumstances of the case, specifically the lack of intent to commit a violent act. By highlighting the client’s background and the staged nature of the event, we successfully negotiated a plea that removed the threat of state prison. The case was resolved with a sentence of probation and a local jail term, protecting the client from a life-altering prison commitment.

The Result

STATE PRISON AVOIDED; PROBATION SECURED
