The Challenge
A Registered Nurse was charged with five felony counts, including obtaining prescription medications by fraud, burglary, and identity theft. The case carried significant professional implications for both the client and her spouse, a Captain in the Armed Forces. A felony conviction would have resulted in the mandatory revocation of the Nurse’s professional license and the loss of the Captain’s security clearance, effectively ending both of their careers.
Our Strategy
Our defense focused on mitigating the long-term professional consequences while addressing the underlying issues. We engaged in detailed negotiations with the prosecution, emphasizing the specific impact a felony conviction would have on the household’s military standing and professional certifications. We successfully secured a dismissal of all five felony counts. The case was resolved with a single misdemeanor plea, probation, and drug treatment, allowing the Nurse to retain her license and the Captain to maintain his security clearance and military career.
The Result
FELONIES DISMISSED – PROFESSIONAL LICENSES PRESERVED
